YDS 2019

My third term project for the year was to inform people on what Young Directors Season is, promote what was happening while telling the behind the scene story of the talented people that were involved and to get people to come and support. I attended many meetings and rehearsals and always had my camera with me to capture the moments that counted.

I set up a Youtube channel where I created and posted videos of who the directors are and their vision for the plays. I created short promotional videos to get the audience excited to come to watch and in the end, I created a longer video that had snippets from dress rehearsals combined with photographs I took.

I also assisted in taking photographs of the posters created. I also wrote articles and sent photographic and video content to Grocott’s Mail who had us in their paper and online publication.I created an Instagram account to assist in promoting the show and to reach different audiences while creating excitement about what was happening through logos (#YDS2019), photographs and short clips. This platform also allowed for the use of creating live videos which we used when the directors were hosted on RMR and highlights which saved each post shared.

I assisted in setting up a SoundCloud account and final editing of audio pieces. I was given access to the Facebook page and created an event from there. These platforms were all used with each other, as when one form of content was posted on a specific platform it would still be shared to all the others, and this let us reach and build on the audience more efficiently.

In the end, I created a WordPress website where the content can be viewed.

I was hired by Noxolo Xotyeni to create a promotional video for their restaurant which opened 22 August 2019. Due to Xotyeni being previously discriminated against in other restaurants because of being transgender, she decided to open her own place where everyone would feel welcome. The people's spot. This is the promotional video that was created:
